Our Mission Statement.
Objects and Purpose.
It is our intention to publish this ‘e-paper’ covering Irish Horses, Irish Hunting and stories of those people interested in both. There will be an unashamed bias towards the Irish bred horse with particular attention to those who are traditionally bred (TB x Irish Draught). The hunting will be covered by reports on hunting with various packs, kennel visits, features on prominent people involved and news and views on topical subjects.
It will be the intention to bring breaking news to the readers attention but not to duplicate the in depth coverage in the paper press. If however we see unfair reporting or an issue that calls for comment we will certainly follow it up.
In time it is hoped there will be a section showing forthcoming meets of hounds, a telephone directory for hunt officials, suppliers of hirelings, horse dealers, car hire, accommodation and a ‘what’s on’ section for hunting enthusiasts.
There will be much time spent publicising the success of the Irish bred horse in the world of Eventing. At the start this will be a record of the success of Irish bred horses competing in the UK in headline form. This will be extended to cover the USA and Europe. This coverage will not in any way compete with the coverage of results published in the Irish Field. It is hoped to further extend this to Show Jumping at a later date. There will be editorial on the breeding of these horses and of the success of the stallions, mares, breeders etc.
A section will be set aside for young people to write their own copy about equestrian topics that interest them. Perhaps some of these will go on to become the equestrian journalists of the future.
Space will be made available for the Pony Club to advertise forthcoming events, and we will be happy to publish their reports and take editorial contributions etc.
We will be keen supporters of the Hunting Association of Ireland and as well as editorial support for them, should they need space, it will be made available to them.
Links to all equestrian, hunting, accommodation and tourist sites will be available.
All contributions, editorial or otherwise, will be published without being edited, subject to them not being gratuitously unkind, illegal or obnoxious. There will be an unreserved right to reply for anyone (subject to the same terms).
Where at all possible the intention is that the paper will be fun to read, contentious at times, informative and have something in it for all in the equestrian family.
Disclaimer.
Where at all possible we will credit the source of information published, if we fail we will be happy to credit the source when we are told we have failed.
It is not our intention to be unkind to anyone, however this will not stop us being firm in rooting out wrong-doing, bad behaviour, bad manners or anything that brings hunting into disrepute.
The Irish Hound & Horse takes no responsibility for inaccuracies or mistakes in copy, phone numbers, addresses etc., although all efforts will be made to avoid these. When we are told of a mistake the correction will be made as soon as possible and if need be an editorial note will be made
